

« Moongirls » is an African futurist, Afrofuturistic and African fantasy graphic novel series.
It follows the adventures of 4 African women superheroes with varying superpowers to save Africa from a diverse range of forces : from patriarchy, rape culture to pollution and global warming. All issues explore the notion of Black women’s persistence within a globalized, racialized and gendered contemporary world. Moongirls invites its readers to think more critaically through the lens of: comics as coded texts, black bodies and representations of beuty in comics, discussion of powers and superpowers, conception of evil in comics…
Arguably the oldest IP in graphic novels on the continent, Moongirls has since 2018 lasted 3 seasons of 6 chapters each. Mid-2018, a collaboration with AnimaxFYB is born from the need to produce the quantity wanted in a short space of time. Since then, AnimaxFYB brought to life some of the most important African stories and characters in graphic novels.
Moongirls is moving to the next stage of Moongirls Project: developing an animated film of the graphic novel series, The Moongirls Film: Age of Aquarius. This delves even deeper into an Africanfuturistic world tackling the big issue of environmental justice.

CASE STUDIES
Each of the four Case Studies offers an in-depth exploration of a completed project, providing a comprehensive narrative that goes beyond the final outcome. These presentations delve into the full spectrum of the project’s lifecycle, highlighting not only the successes but also the failures, challenges, and unexpected obstacles encountered along the way. They also reveal the critical role of collaboration, detailing how creative teams, producers, investors, and other stakeholders worked together to navigate complexities and implement necessary adjustments. This panel will gather key figures behind each project: creators, producers, investors and other major contributors, to engage in an open dialogue. By sharing their diverse perspectives and recounting their individual experiences, the panelists will illuminate the decision-making process, strategic pivots and lessons learnes. This collaborative exchange aims to foster a deeper understanding of what drives projects success and how to effectively respond to setbacks.
